Intransa’s StorAR provides an Asynchronous Replication storage solution that works with the Intransa IntraStor® product family - the IP3000, IP5000, IP5500, and the IP7500. StorAR is an add-on feature to Intransa’s StorControl® management application and enables organizations to perform asynchronous replications inter, or intra, Intransa’s IntraStor storage solution.

StorAR is configured on a per LUN (volume) basis that enables organizations to control which data is replicated using StorAR, and which data is replicated using other replication techniques. As a result, organizations can provide asynchronous replication on one data set, while providing point-in-time replication to another data set. For critical data the data set can also be mirrored, providing a very flexible storage management solution that meets organizations’ Business and Application needs.

Where organizations need to provide replication across Wide Area Network (WAN) links, Intransa offers an integrated solution that encompasses a WAN optimization product, providing accelerated asynchronous replication using StorAR. The Intransa accelerated StorAR solution increases the replication performance over a WAN by optimizing the WAN traffic.

The Intransa IntraStor and StorAR storage solution uses standard Ethernet (gigabit Ethernet - GE) as the infrastructure to connect the application servers, as well as the storage arrays, to the Storage Controllers (SC). This enables Intransa to leverage the existing Ethernet (IP) infrastructure that organizations have implemented for their data network, and does not require a second network topology (such as Fibre Channel) to implement a cost effective and scalable storage solution. By leveraging the existing IP infrastructure, this enables Intransa to provide an asynchronous replication storage solution to any location globally that has IP connectivity to the replication source.
