OVERVIEW
CDs and DVDs have become well-established storage media within the workplace. They are easily transported from one system to another, and knowledge of their benefits has significantly increased. The Master™ product works across the network allowing both System Administrators and privileged clients to harness the power to manage more than just the standalone CD/DVD-R writer. With QStar's Master product, users get the ability to manage hundreds or thousands of CD/DVDs with ease through an intuitive GUI and advanced management tools. QStar's Master software combines all of the great features offered in the QStar CD/DVD Axxess product with the ability to intelligently write and group CD/DVD-R media within sets.
Master continues the functionality advancement by allowing customers to ensure all data is securely written with QStar’s DVD Image Proxy writing feature. With Image Proxy, QStar provides a means to create a virtual UDF image on hard disk the same size as the DVD archive media surface before the data is written to the DVD surface.
This provides a means to verify the DVD burn and to ensure that the media is fully utilized before the write process begins.
All of this functionality is available in the full version of Master. (Master-3)
Master-1 combines the ability to create and manage CDs and DVDs in either ISO 9660 or UDF formats with sophisticated jukebox management tools. This is the ideal
configuration for the small to medium business unit having to manage large numbers of discs.
Functionality may then be added with
Master-2 which includes media spanning capabilities, allowing the user to create file sets larger than a single piece of media, while still maintaining a non-proprietary UDF format.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Standards Based Formats
QStar's CD/DVD Master software adds the ability to write in either the ISO 9660 standard or UDF. These formats, recognized as world standards, will allow the media created with the QStar CD/DVD Master product to be transportable to other systems, even if they are not running the same operating system.
Writing Options
QStar’s CD/DVD Master supports both direct writing to media or scheduled writing of the ISO/UDF image. Administrators can assign mastered media to different media sets, and a profile can be defined to guarantee consistent media creation. E-mail notification ensures that System Administrators are informed of the completion of the write process and alerted to any conditions that could affect the systems ability to perform correctly.
Automatic Media Assignment
Administrators can create numerous sets whereby media will automatically be added, as appropriate, once mastered. This ensures that only the media the set requires will be allocated. Each surface of the set can be its own filesystem or all the media together can be one contiguous filesystem.
