IP2000 Provides Customers with Enterprise- Class Functionality at an Entry-level Price
SAN JOSE, California—January 23, 2006— Intransa, the global innovator of network-centric, IP storage solutions today announced the general availability of the IP2000 as part of its Value-Line offering. This groundbreaking move expands Intransa’s product offering, providing it with the most product depth of any IP SAN vendor in the industry. Designed to meet the low-cost and ease-of-use requirements of small and medium businesses (SMB’s), without compromising scalability and performance required by enterprise customers, the Intransa IP2000 is perfectly suited for Microsoft applications, making it an ideal storage platform for Microsoft Exchange and SQL.
“The uniqueness of Intransa’s IP architecture and their network-centric approach will not only provide an attractive addition to our portfolio, but will allow customers, both small and large, to unleash the full potential of their IP network,” said Todd Hartung, vice president of Promark Technology, a premier value-added distributor of data storage products and solutions. "We are extremely pleased to offer Intransa’s full-family of IP SAN solutions, including their newest addition, the IP2000, to our government and commercial channel partners.”
Arun Taneja, founder and consulting analyst of the Taneja Group, expects that by 2008, SMB’s using DAS technology will drop from 85 percent today to 50 percent. A majority of the reduction, 30 percent, is expected to be absorbed by iSCSI products such as those sold by Intransa.
Flexibility, High Performance and Application Improvement
With the availability of the IP2000, Intransa is now the only IP vendor on the market today to provide customers with a full family of IP network-centric products, with each and every product family living up to Intransa’s reputation as delivering the most flexible and scalable architecture available. Customers have the ability to grow and maintain control of their IT infrastructure as their business needs grow, reducing unnecessary over-buying of storage capacity, and significantly reducing administrative complexity and management costs.
“Intransa’s IP 2000 system gives us the ability to seamlessly add storage capacity on demand over the IP network for our proprietary medical research application,” said Rabih Suki, CEO, Dynamic Health Systems. “The systems are painless to scale, and our end users aren’t impacted by the deployment. All they know is that performance has improved and capacity has increased.”
“The Texas Youth Commission requires a flexible storage solution that can be provisioned as needed and on demand without modifying our core network architecture.” said Sean Miller, director of network and telecommunications for the Texas Youth Commission “The solution Intransa provided us fits our requirement.”
Cost and reliability were major drivers for the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and Arts. Its physics department needed a stable storage solution to replace an off-the-shelf storage system that was continuously breaking down”
“Intransa’s affordable IP 2000 system will allow us to set up a low-cost, fully-featured IP-based SAN for our faculty’s research needs, allowing us to allocate precious funds to other research projects,” said Tim Rolston, Windows systems manager for University of Michigan, College of Literature, Science and Arts.
