QLE236x Host Bus Adapter. The QLE236x is a high-performance, 2-Gbps to PCI-Express HBA. The QLE2360 is a single port HBA, the QLE2362 is a dual port HBA. Unlike other HBAs, the QLE236x delivers unprecedented levels of performance and availability. All HBAs in the SANblade QLE236x family are managed by the QLogic SANsurfer FC HBA Manager, which provides centralized management and remote control of distributed HBAs. Why PCI Express? PCI Express is a serial host bus that provides higher throughputs, lower pin counts, and ease of scalability. This technology is being adopted by major server OEMs. PCI Express x4, supported by the QLE236x, provides 2-GBps FC data rate, addressing increasing higher throughput requirements. Higher Performance. The QLE236x has an enhanced RISC processor on the FC controller chip, providing up to 160,000 I/Os per second by having completely independent, internal resources for each port. WHY QLOGIC? Designed as the optimum choice for Sun Microsystems servers implementing SBus, the QLogic SANblade QSB2340 and QSB2342 host bus adapters (HBAs) offer 2-Gbps Fibre Channel combined with 64-bit, 25-MHz SBus. This union provides the performance and interoperability needed for highly scalable storage area networks (SANs). These multimode optic HBAs are specifically targeted for SUN enterprise servers in direct attach storage (DAS) as well as SAN environments. Features

SCSI OVER IP: iSCSI. IT managers now have a choice when considering storage area networks (SANs). With the new industry standard iSCSI protocol, Ethernet networks can now be used to build SANs. iSCSI based SANs will provide the same benefits as Fibre Channel SANs, but they use TCP/IP, which is more familiar to many IT managers. In addition, iSCSI enables seamless integration to wide area networks (WANs), enabling new applications such as remote storage. ENHANCED TOTAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE. The QLA4010 implements the complete protocol stack including Ethernet, TCP/IP and iSCSI on a single chip and offloads all I/0 protocol processing from the host system. This complete offload of the host eliminates the protocol processing load of TCP/IP, and also reduces CPU interrupts. At 1-Gbps speeds, these I/0 protocol burdens placed on the host system are significant and reduce the bandwidth available to other applications running on the host. The QLA4010 maximizes I/O bandwidth and allows the host system to deliver optimum application performance. The QLA4010 architecture combines a hardware state-based design with embedded processors to provide the optimum mix of performance and flexibility. This flexible architecture allows firmware upgrades to support changes to the iSCSI standard. Updated firmware, drivers, and management software are available on the QLogic website, support.qlogic.com. Features and Benefits

Connecting SANs over WANs The SANbox 6142 uses QLogic’s patent pending SmartWrite™ technology to improve the speed, efficiency and reliability of linking SANs over WANs. Improving data replication, data protection and enhancing the ability of IT mangers to meet growing regulatory requirements related to business continuance. The SANbox 6142 supports leading data replication applications and can improve their operations by 60% of tradition long-haul communications. This enables IT mangers to reduce the cost of telecommunication to protect data in their current environments. Supports Leading Replications Applications:
Breakthrough Ease of Use
SmartWrite™ is a unique technology developed by QLogic to reduce the number of round trip delays to a single round trip delay associated with “Write” operation over long distances. It also provides Hi-Fn based data compression for low bandwidth WAN links. Thus, SANbox 6142 substantially improves data replication performance over long distances. Flexible Connection Choices
